The coolest thing about this author is her unique ability to make you believe you know what your about to read-- then completely blow your mind when it turns into something completely different and fresh from other works. When I started reading this book, I thought oh great zombies and post apocolyptic type events. When the story got going I soon realized how wrong I was. This is a story about inner strength and overcoming impossible situations. This is a story about not losing hope. This is a story about how delusional power hungry people could get and how their hunger for power concocts an equally delusional plan that causes a whole lot of unnecessary deaths of innocent people. This is a story about friends sticking together to overcome odds and new beginnings when the future seems an impossibility. Listening to your gut, not following the "truths you are told" when you know it's fishy and smells of a cover-up and blowing the whole thing wide open while hoping to make it out alive. All the while having characters that are also not your typical cookie cutter types. This author--all her books are a breath of unpredictability when you think they are going to be "typical" to the type of book you think your about to read. Always a surprise and completely awesome and makes you want to read more! I'm still digesting this one and will probably go read it again to see if I missed anything in my haste to see the action unfold!Product details

I wasn't sure what to expect when I purchased this book but color me shocked. What I thought was going to be a book on a zombie apocalypse turned into an action packed read involving government manipulation, drugs and the ravages of war. I will definitely be recommending this book to friends.
This was a fun, well paced and quick read. A fun reimagining of the quickly becoming clicked zombie genre.
My only issue was the editing which was a failure and pulled me out of the story a couple times. But I slipped back into it with relative ease.
This book has a rhythm, it smoothly follows twists and turns within the story while highlighting deep characters who are more than just good guys and bad guys. The scribed tenacity of Liz and Cole allow the reader to see and feel the story. The paradigm is anything but typical. I whole heartedly recommend this book well illustrated plot, strong character builds, and intriguingly relatable in a post apocalyptic way.
I was expecting an apocalyptic theme to this story. Not the case but the story did not suffer. This novel is not deep in characters or plot line. The story does make you care for the good guys and is an enjoyable read.
I've read many of Becca Boucher's books but this one takes first place to me. The characters were so real that I had a tough time realizing this was fiction. Heart stopping excitement, sadness, badass hero's, and yes, even love all makes this book a must have. If you are looking for a well written story with great characters and a great story, then get this book. You will not regret it!!
Don't be fooled by the serene setting; this face-paced atypical zombie story is a quick read. It's easy to connect with the characters. You can't help but fall for Cole Erickson, the handsome hero. And while Lucas, the vile villain, is fun to hate, it's a blast to watch Lizbeth grow into a formidable heroine. The twists and turns keep you flipping the pages.
I regret not starting this book right after I purchased it. Evasion by Becca Boucher is a well thought out novel that is far different from other 'zombie' or 'apocalypse' type stories (being a writer myself and a fan of the zombie and the apocalypse genres, I'm very familiar with these themes). Set in a fictional town in New England, Evasion tells the story of an abused wife, and an athlete-turned-cop fighting to stay alive in a very messed up situation. This novel touches on themes of abuse, loss, loyalty, drugs, war, and fighting for survival. If you're looking for something different, that is well written and captivating, go ahead and give this one a read.
